Abbey

AbbeyBarry first thought up this run over a year ago and my nerves have been building ever since!

As a tribute to his mum, Mary, I can’t think of anything more fitting. Mary was a steely, determined woman and Barry will need to borrow those qualities to complete these 6 marathon days.

I am thrilled that he is surrounded by brilliant friends who are supporting him hugely. Team Mega are giving so much by agreeing to complete a marathon with him. Each runner brings his or her own experience and support to the run.

Kirsten and Aaron are amazing to have volunteered to give up a week’s annual leave to drive the course offering their support and assistance. Barry has hopes that they’ll cook him up a sausage in their van en route!

I am not driving, not running… Just organising! I have no idea about Twitter and websites and I’m in awe of all the efforts of the team to pull these types of things out of the bag!

I’m trying to learn as much as I can about running and caring for runners without breaking into a sweat myself!! The whole Mega Marathon experience is something totally new to me. Luckily I am a teacher with the long summer holiday, which has given me the chance to immerse myself in all things running and organising.

I intend on being a map reading, blister popping, gel-packing coach extraordinaire come October!

Finally getting round to reading these.. Love your profile Abbey, and your organisational skills are saving the day, otherwise I expect we’d all just be getting lost on random B-roads and sleeping in ditches!

As an aside.. what a gorgeous pic! X
